RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a hands-on accounting role, executing both transactional accounting and the monthly close.  In addition, you will manage and have responsibility for the overall accounting practices; the maintenance of company financial records; enhanced report development and interpretation of financial reports for management. The position will direct and have overall responsibility for internal controls, forecasting, financial reporting, budgetary controls and human resources.  This position will report to the president with a dotted line to the CEO and maintain a staff of 3.
 Key Responsibilities include:
  • Generate monthly financials and budget reports accompanied by an executive summary for top management
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes as well as outside tax reporting
  • Provide recommendations on general business issues, including cost control and profit opportunities
  • Implement process re-engineering to ensure accounting processes best practices
  • Establish formal internal control policies and procedures
  • Manage payroll, 401k and other human resource activities
  • Review and maintain all business contracts
  • Develop accounting policies to comply with generally accepted accounting principles, tax requirements, and management reporting requirements
  • Exercise accounting control to insure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized without proper approval
 
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA required
  • Minimum of 7 years accounting experience
  • Cost accounting experience required along with GL, AP, AR, Payroll
  • Understanding of 401k plans administration
  • Prior experience working for non-manufacturing and privately held organizations; entrepreneurial business experience a plus
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven leadership capabilities
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial modeling, forecasting and financial planning/analysis and cash flow projections
  • Excellent communications skills which include ability to write executive summary reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as well as work in conjunction with top management and heads of departments to produce commentary for meaningful monthly reporting and drive strategic decision making
  • Lawson financial software experience a plus, must be able to quickly grasp Lawson software and maximize the utilization of the data residing in the system
  • Above average IT competency, with proven experience in utilizing accounting software to its fullest, and the integration of data residing in several different systems or databases
  • Proven experience in process re-engineering, staff development and implementation of accounting best practices
  • Extensive experience with financial analysis including the ability to produce ad hoc profitability analysis of on-going projects and new ventures
  • Hands-on individual with a strong work ethic
