Volunteerism is quickly becoming a core component of employee engagement and corporate social responsibility practices. Based on a recent online survey of executives at 120 corporations, a new report, Snapshot 2015: The New Corporate DNA – Where Employee Engagement and Social Impact Converge, found that volunteerism has become a main factor in recruitment and also retention strategies.
At Motivation Excellence, we take pride in our community outreach and the generosity of our staff. What makes us different, however, is that most of our volunteer projects are run entirely by our employees. There’s little directive or mandates from our management team; our employees come up with ideas to help local people in need and do so with great enthusiasm.
Today, we’d like to share some of these initiatives with you. We’re proud of what our employees have accomplished in our community!
November
We held an inter-office coat drive, collecting coats, hats, mittens, and boots for Ellsworth Elementary School in Naperville. Our employees donated (new and used): 19 coats, 16 hats, 19 pairs of gloves, 21 scarves, and 2 pairs of boots to the school.
Leading up to Thanksgiving, our team led a Thanksgiving dinner food drive. Benefiting families in the nearby suburb of Palatine, we purchased a laundry basket full of food for 3 families. The baskets included everything you’d need for a Thanksgiving dinner, including a grocery gift card so the families could buy their turkey and other perishable items.

December
As a part of our “12 Days of December” holiday spirit initiative, we created over 70 handmade cards to send out to active military.
And finally, we participated in the Palatine Adopt-A-Family program, purchasing gifts for 2 families in need. Each family was a single mother with 2 children and our team collectively purchased a multitude of gifts for each child, as well as a gift card for each mother.
Kudos to our team for their generous holiday spirit. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished!
